San Jacinto Apartment Complex, Synagogue Ordered To Evacuate

SAN JACINTO (CBSLA.com) — Just a week after rain and mud threatened homes in San Jacinto, residents in an apartment complex have been ordered to evacuate Thursday as a powerful Pacific storm approaches.

The residents of Valley View Apartments, 20520 Highway 79 (State Street) sits at the bottom of a drainage at the base of the Soboba foothills and is subject to potential mud and debris flow, similar to what happened last week when the area was soaked by heavy rainfall.

The Hemecinto Sholom Center/Temple Beth AM, 20514 Highway 79, is also under mandatory evacuation.

The storm is expected to release its heaviest downpours mid to late Friday morning, authorities said.

Soboba Road between State Street and just west of Chabela Drive will be closed by 4 p.m. Thursday. Road closures and evacuation orders will remain in place until authorities deem it safe for resident to return and roadways are drivable, Riverside County sheriff's deputy Alberto Martinez said.
