LAUSD Magnet School Employee Investigated For 'Alleged Misconduct'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police Thursday were investigating an employee at a nationally ranked LAUSD magnet school.

The Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES) principal Harold Boger sent a letter home to parents Wednesday night regarding "an investigation involving alleged misconduct by a school employee."

The employee has been removed from campus pending the results of an LAPD probe, he said. Parents were notified Wednesday night of the employee's removal from the campus, KNX 1070's Jon Baird reports.

Police were not releasing details surrounding the case and it was unclear if the person in question was a teacher, administrator or employee.

"The District will provide crisis intervention counselors to work with students who might be impacted by the removal of the employee," Boger said.

LACES enrolls students in grade six though 12 and is consistently ranked as one of California's top schools.

"This one incident is not going to bring us down. We will rise above and become better and better," English teacher Jeff Scilp said.

The district was expected to released additional information sometime Thursday.
