KROQ's 'Kevin & Bean' To Be Inducted Into Broadcasting Hall Of Fame

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — KROQ's Kevin & Bean will be inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame, the National Association of Broadcasters announced Monday.

The longtime team, whose real names are Kevin Ryder and Gene "Bean" Baxter, will be inducted during an April 14 ASCAP-sponsored luncheon at the NAB Show in Las Vegas.

The "Kevin & Bean morning Show" is the longest-running a.m. drive show on the air in Southern California, featuring music and news mixed with comedy, celebrity interviews, listener call-ins and live music performances, according to the NAB. The deejays' "Breakfast With" series has featured bands like No Doubt, Foo Fighters, Weezer, Nine Inch Nails and U2, and the show's alumni include Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla and Chris Hardwick.

"The talented team of the Kevin & Bean Show is a true radio success story," said NAB Executive Vice President of Radio John David. "The morning show has made a huge impact on Los Angeles with its mix of music, entertainment and humor that has resonated with Southern California listeners for decades."

Ryder and Baxter met at KZZP in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1987. Ryder had been working as one of the station's nighttime Djs, and Baxter was the music director, and they initially teamed on air for a show called "Saturday Night Party Patrol."

Previous NAB Radio Broadcasting Hall of Fame inductees include Steve Harvey, Dave Ramsey, Bob Uecker, Vin Scully and Rick Dees.
