Man, 29, Identified In Compton Drive-By Shooting

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A 29-year-old homeless man was identified by the coroner's office Saturday in a drive-by shooting that took place yesterday afternoon.

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, Alfredo Buenobaca was gunned down just after 9:00 a.m. Friday while walking in the intersection of East Elm Street and Poinsettia Avenue.

Deputies explained Buenobaca was crossing Poinsettia Avenue Eastbound on Elm Street when a suspect vehicle approached and stopped in the intersection.

A suspect traveling in the right front passenger seat exited the vehicle and fired a gun at Buenobaca.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by officials.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown.

No description of the suspects or vehicle is available at this time.
