Former School Employee Sentenced To 48 Years To Life For Molesting 3 Apple Valley Girls

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — A former school employee has been sentenced to 48 years to life in prison for molesting three Apple Valley girls, officials from the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office said Monday.

Paul James Hultman, 58, of Apple Valley, was given with the maximum that Judge Eric Nakata could sentence him to for the molestation of three girls – ages 10, 11 and 13 – between 2011 and 2013, San Bernardino County District Attorney's spokesman Christopher Lee said.

"This defendant befriended these young girls and abused his position of trust, repeatedly molesting them over a period of years, Deputy District Attorney David Foy said in a statement.

Hultman, a commercial airline pilot and former employee at a Montessori school in Santa Barbara, was arrested in 2013 while trying to flee in a private plane at the Apple Valley Airport. A jury found Hultman guilty April 17 of four counts of sexual abuse and lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14.
