UCLA Fans Celebrate Bruins' Victory Over USC

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — On this November night, the Bruins got the best of the Trojans in the battle for LA. And UCLA fans were ready to celebrate.

KCAL9's Bobby Kaple spoke with fans of both teams after the Bruins took a 38-20 victory over the visiting Trojans at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, keeping hopes of a Pac-12 title alive. It's UCLA's third-straight win in the crosstown rivalry.

"UCLA runs LA, and everyone knows it," one fan said.

It's a rivalry that pits family member against family member, and the entire city chooses a side.

"The atmosphere out here is just insane," a USC fan said.

"It's two side of LA, basically," said UCLA fan Monica Lopez. "It's almost like the East Side and the Westside kind of thing."

"We love USC and our friends, some of our friends, love UCLA, so we all like getting together and just having a great time," said USC fan Eddie Carval.

The USC-UCLA game also brings a wild party atmosphere to the Rose Bowl as more than 80,000 fans show up to eat, drink and watch the city's biggest football game of the year.

"UCLA just isn't as cool as SC, what can I say," said a USC fan.

"Why do you think they do this," a UCLA fan asked, raising two fingers to replicate USC's "Fight On" salute. "We know you're No. 2."
