Ceremony Finalizes The Adoption Of 89 Children In San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — A record number of children under the age of three were among nearly 80 children at the San Bernardino County Children and Family Services Adoption Finalization event Thursday.

The event, which was themed "A Celebration of Families Under the Big Top", began at 12 p.m. at the Ontario Convention Center.

The 47 children under the age of three is the largest number of kids three and under ever to be adopted at the annual event. Almost half of those children are being adopted by relatives.

All of the children have been living with their caregivers, relatives or prospective adoptive parents for some time, but these families will legally unite Thursday in ceremonies performed by San Bernardino County judges.

"We have many children, from toddlers to teenagers, in our care who aren't able to safely return home," said Randall Schulz, Director of CFS. "It's very exciting  knowing so many families in our community are willing to give their love to our kids by making them a part of their family through the life-long commitment of adoption."

The event also featured of the CFS Heart Gallery in conjunction with Heart Gallery of America, Inc.  The Heart Gallery features photos of children with special challenges who are in need of committed families that can meet their special needs and provide the security of a loving family.

The CFS facilitates nearly 400 adoptions per year
