Robbery Suspect ID'd After Dropping Wallet While Fleeing From Alleged Victim

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities sought the public's help Wednesday in locating a Canyon Country robbery suspect who may have dropped his ID while running from his alleged victim.

The incident occurred on Nov. 1 in a parking lot at 19200 Soledad Canyon Road when a 35-year-old female reported that a male approached her from behind and stole her purse while she was loading her groceries into her vehicle, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

Deputies say as the victim chased after the suspect in an attempt to get her purse back, the victim and a witness observed a wallet containing the suspect's ID fall from the suspect's pants pocket as he was running away from the area.

The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Ismael Soto, who detectives believe may be living in Sylmar or North Hollywood.

Detectives assigned to the case later discovered Soto may also be involved in a separate unrelated battery incident that occurred in Canyon Country in late September, authorities said.

Anyone with information on Soto is asked to contact Detective Barretto at 661-255-1121 or at mpbarret@lasd.org. Anonymous tipsters can call the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
