Police: 3 Students Trigger Middle School Lockdown After Taking Air Pistol To Campus

MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Moreno Valley police said three students at Mountain View Middle School created a gun scare Wednesday when they allegedly took an air pistol to campus.

Administrators placed the school, in the 13000 block of Morrison Street, on lockdown shortly before 11 a.m. after getting word that a weapon was on the premises.

Officers searched the classrooms and discovered three students were in possession of the Airsoft pistol. They were removed from class and taken into custody. They have since been booked into Riverside Juvenile Hall.

The lockdown was lifted at 11:15 a.m.

It was unclear why the students took the weapon to school. Officials have not released their identities.

Police released the following statement: "The Moreno Police Department and Moreno Valley Unified School District take these type of incidents very seriously and will continue to respond with the utmost care when it comes to the safety of the children."
