1 Injured After Car Plows Into Moreno Valley Store

MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — At least one person was hospitalized Tuesday after a car plowed into a storefront in Moreno Valley.

Firefighters responded to the 12100 block of Day Street in Moreno Valley at 10:33 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a car that drove into a convenience store, according to Melody Hendrickson of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Surveillance video shows the black Nissan Altima crashing through the storefront and taking out a 60-year-old patron as he's walking out. A store clerk saw everything.

The driver of the car, Daniel Hernandez, 31, was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries, authorities said. Witnesses to the crash say he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

On Tuesday night, KCAL9's Crystal Cruz spoke to the owner of the store, who said he hopes to be able to reopen soon.

Firefighters reported no damage to the structure, but an estimate of the damage to the contents of the store was not known.
