LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Freshman Kevon Looney had 17 points and 14 rebounds for his first double-double, and UCLA pulled away in the second half to beat Coastal Carolina 84-71 Sunday night in a matchup of NCAA tournament teams from last season.

Bryce Alford added 17, Norman Powell had 13 before fouling out and Isaac Hamilton 16 for the Bruins (2-0), who started slowly two nights after scoring 113 points in their opener. Tony Parker had 11 points and 11 rebounds for his second career double-double.

Josh Cameron led Coastal Carolina (1-1) with 22 points and Warren Gillis added 16, extending his streak of double-figure scoring to 23 games. Badou Diagne had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Chanticleers, who were playing a Pac-12 school for the first time.

Both teams shot under 40 percent in the first half, when UCLA led 32-28. The only run of the half belonged to the Bruins, whose nine straight points produced their biggest lead of six in the opening minutes.

The Chants hung around early in the second half, cutting their deficit to four points on a pair of free throws by Cameron.

The Bruins took over from there, outscoring the Chants 24-8, including stretches of nine and eight unanswered points, to take a 69-49 lead. Looney had nine points and Bryce Alford six in the spurt while the Chants were held to two field goals.

Coastal outscored UCLA 30-24 in the paint and held the Bruins without any fast break points.
