Police Seek Knife-Yielding Suspect Accused In Oxnard Robbery

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A 21-year-old man was in custody Friday for allegedly robbing a home located in the Southwinds neighborhood yesterday evening.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers were sent around 6:35 p.m. Thursday for report of a robbery in the area of Charles Street and Canterbury Way.

During their preliminary investigation, police said residents alerted them of possible suspects that were still in the area.

Officers were able to locate and detain two suspects.

One suspect, Ariel Rodriguez of Oxnard, was positively identified as one of the robbers.

It was unclear, however, what was stolen from the property.

Authorities explained they are still searching for the second suspect.

Detectives described him as a Hispanic male between the ages of 25 to 30-years-old, who was last seen wearing a black sweater and black pants. They believe he was in possession of a knife.

This is the 17th robbery reported in the Southwinds neighborhood over the course of the last four months, officers explained.

According to police, the neighborhood is a small area located South of Pleasant Valley Road, North of Hueneme Road, East of J Street and West of Saviers Road.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the second robbery suspect is urged to contact detectives at (805) 385-7645.
