Former UCLA Student Pleads Not Guilty To Laptop Thefts

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A former UCLA student has pleaded not guilty to stealing nearly 60 laptop computers from campus.

Seyed Hesari entered pleas on Thursday to charges that include grand theft and burglary. He could face more than 4 ½ years in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors contend that Hesari stole Apple MacBooks from a research library and student store in September and earlier this month.

Campus police arrested Hesari on Tuesday after someone recognized him from surveillance photos.

Police say they recovered 53 of the 57 stolen computers at his home.

UCLA says Hesari had been a history undergraduate as recently as March.
