Arrest Made Weeks After Man Was Found Dead On Hotel Floor In Woodland Hills

WOODLAND HILLS (CBSLA.com) — More than two weeks after a 43-year-old man was pronounced dead in a Woodland Hills hotel, police have made an arrest.

The Los Angeles Police Department said in a written statement that 34-year-old Jorge Rodriguez was arrested Tuesday in connection with the killing of his acquaintance, Edward Mello.

Mello was discovered about 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 29 when LAPD patrol officers responded to the 20200 block of Ventura Boulevard for a "possible suicide."

When they arrived, they located Mello of Woodland Hills lying on the floor of his hotel floor after sustaining a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a motive for the killing was not being released at this time.

The case remains under investigation.

Anyone with more information about this case was asked to contact Topanga Area Homicide Detective Dave Peteque at (818) 756-4869 or 1-877-LAPD-24-7 during non-business hours or on weekends.
