Clippers' Griffin To Face Battery Charges In Vegas Confrontation

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles Clippers big man Blake Griffin will face charges stemming from incident in Las Vegas in September, in which he allegedly assaulted a man in a night club.

The Clark County District Attorney is charging Griffin with misdemeanor battery, according to sources. He was reportedly issued a summons in lieu of arrest.

On Oct. 19, Griffin was in an altercation involving a camera at a resort along the 3300 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, according to Las Vegas Metro Police Department spokesman Jesse Roybal.

Griffin is said to have become angry when cameras from phones began flashing in his face inside the Tao Nightclub during the Clippers preseason trip. He is then reported to have grabbed the phone of Daniel Schuman, 39, as well as his neck, before slapping him on the side of his face.

Other Clippers players were in the club with Griffin, though none are said to have been involved in the confrontation.

Griffin and the Clippers were in Las Vegas after playing an exhibition game against the Denver Nuggets.
