Westminster Councilman Arrested In Second DUI Case

WESTMINSTER (CBSLA.com/AP) — A Westminster councilman convicted of drunken driving five years ago has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The California Highway Patrol said Andy Quach, 42, was arrested Monday after he crashed a vehicle into the metal gate of an apartment complex and failed a field sobriety test.

City News Service reports that Quach pleaded guilty to DUI in 2009 after being arrested and tested with a blood-alcohol level of .26 percent, more than three times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle in California.

Quach couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Orange County Sheriff's Department records indicate he was being held on $10,000 bail.

His next court appearance was scheduled for Thursday at West Justice Center, according to booking information.

The Westminster website says Quach has had an extensive career in public service. He was first elected to the City Council in 2002 and was re-elected in 2006 and 2010.
