LA City Website Looks To Connect Job Seekers, Employers

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — If you're looking for work, you're in the right city.

Job seekers can visit JobsLA.org, a website designed by the city of Los Angeles that offers over 120,000 jobs in fields from everything from business and financial operations to food prep and transportation.

Users can view real-time job listings from across Southern California, build or improve an existing resume, and even get some job leads from a "virtual recruiter" that electronically notifies job-seekers of opportunities that match their interests.

The website's overhaul coincides with a $36 million effort by the city to establish a brand-new WorkSource Center to help train students and provide resources for job seekers at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.

Officials last week held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Vernon-Central WorkSource Center, the first of 17 such facilities that will offer training to as many as 100,000 students.
