Santa Clarita Schools Raise Money For Motocross Accident Victim

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — Two arch-rival high school football teams in Santa Clarita came together Friday to raise money for a student paralyzed in a motocross accident.

Doctors say Justin Covarrubias, 16, has a three percent chance of walking again. His family said they know he'll defy the odds.

Students gathered at the biggest game of the season between Canyon Country and West Ranch high schools, which was dedicated to Covarrubias. All players placed his initials on their helmets and students held up signs of encouragement.

Covarrubias' parents were on hand to witness the outpouring of support.
