Police: Ventura Man Stole 35 Pounds Of Copper Wire From Pylons

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — A 31-year-old man was in custody Saturday for allegedly stealing copper wire from the Veterans center.

According to the Ventura Police Department, officers were sent to the area of Telephone Road and Wells Road around 9:22 a.m. for reports of a subject possibly stealing copper wire a bike path.

Once on scene, officers located David Litada who was in the progress of stealing wires from the pylons, which light the walking path behind the Veterans center.

In total, Litada damaged seven pylons, and pulled about 35 pounds of copper wire from them.

He was taken into custody without incident, and was booked into the Ventura County Jail for grand theft and three felony warrants.
