Police Arrest Mother Of 2 Boys Found Wandering Long Beach Streets

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police Friday located and subsequently arrested the mother of two toddlers found wandering the streets of Long Beach.

A family member of 23-year-old Shenae Irene Dixon called police late Thursday after seeing pictures of the boys on television, authorities said.

Dixon has been "located in good health," according to Long Beach police.

On Friday afternoon, police announced that Dixon was under arrest for child endangerment.

The boys, approximately 1 and 2 years old, were found Thursday morning at Atlantic Avenue and 60th Street.

The older child was found wearing a T-shirt, shorts and sandals, and the younger child was wearing a T-shirt and diaper.

Initially police were concerned about Dixon's whereabouts after a relative contacted them about a post on social media from a person claiming to be Dixon stating she was concerned because she knew police were looking for her.

"We really don't know much at all. There was a post on Facebook early this morning, or Instagram, some kind of social media that we haven't been able to confirm yet. So that's what we're actively investigating right now to see if we can confirm that," Sgt. Robert Woods reports.

Later on Friday, police said they located Dixon at the intersection of Firestone and Alameda in Los Angeles after they received a tip from a witness who recognized her from news reports.

Officials said they believe she "endangered and abandoned" the children and in the interest of not wanting to jeopardize the integrity of the case, declined to comment futher.

Dixon is being at at the Long Beach City Jail on $100,000 bail.

She is expected to be arraigned sometime early next week, officials said.
