Evacuation Advisory Issued For Possible Flooding, Debris Flow In Silverado Canyon Burn Area

SILVERADO CANYON (CBSLA.com) — Authorities in Orange County Friday issued an evacuation advisory for residents in the Silverado Canyon area.

The advisory was issued for homes east of 30311 Silverado Canyon Road as an incoming storm threatens potential flooding and debris flow in the area burned by the Silverado Canyon Fire in September.

Orange County Emergency Operations officials said in a statement that, starting at 9 p.m., "only residents will be allowed to enter the areas under the evacuation advisory and the public is warned that heavy rain and subsequent flooding and mudslides are possible."

The National Weather Service says a storm approaching the area is expected to produce up to a half-inch of rain between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Saturday and up to three quarters of an inch overall.

Sandbags were available for residents from the O.C. Public Works at O.C. Fire Authority's Station 14, 29402 Silverado Canyon Road.

Small animals were welcome at O.C. Animal Care Services at 561 The City Drive South in Orange. Residents were asked to follow personal plans to relocate their large animals.
