Hemet Man Faces Murder Charges In Death Of 2 Family Members

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A Southland man appeared in court Tuesday after being charged with the murders of two family members in their Hemet home, authorities said.

Quilik Walton, 23, faces two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of his stepfather and half-brother on Oct. 22. Walton answered questions in court but left without entering a plea.

Authorities received 911 calls from neighbors around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday about two people that appeared to be dead inside a residence in the 400 block of Winthrop Drive in Hemet, Lt. Dean Evans said.

A family member who found the bodies identified the victims as Deon Boyd Sr., 44; and his 12-year-old stepson, Deon Boyd Jr., who lived at the home. Both victims had multiple stab wounds, according to prosecutors.

Around 10:30 a.m. last Thursday, authorities pulled over a car in the 28500 block of Shady Tree Lane in Hemet — about 14 miles away from the double homicide — after an officer said the driver was acting suspiciously.

Police said the vehicle was reported stolen Thursday morning and was registered to the home where the murders occurred.

The driver, identified as Walton, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Walton has a history of mental issues, according to family members.

Walton is expected to appear in court in late-November. He was being held without bail.
