17-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle Dies Of Injuries

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 17-year-old girl from Huntington Beach has died a day after being struck by a vehicle.

The accident occurred early Monday morning in the area of Beach Boulevard and Yorktown Avenue, Huntington Beach police said in a statement.

Police say officers responded around 5:35 a.m. and found the girl in the roadway. A black Cadillac DTS was located nearby, authorities said.

The statement said the driver of the Cadillac, described by police as a 54-year-old man from Huntington Beach, remained at the scene.

He was released after being interviewed by investigators, police said. Authorities said no arrests were made nor citations issued.

The girl was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was listed in critical condition. She died Tuesday about 3:40 p.m., police said. Her name has been withheld.

The crash remains under investigation.
