Large Black Bear Startles Drivers On 210 Freeway In Duarte
DUARTE (CBSLA.com) — A large black bear startled drivers Saturday who were traveling on the 210 Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers received reports of a bear running across the Westbound side of the freeway around 3 a.m. near Buena Vista Street.
Once on scene, deputies said they found the bear located in a brush area near a concrete wall and chain link fence on the south side of the freeway.
Fish and Wildlife officials were called to the scene just after 4 a.m. and used a tranquilizer dart to capture the bear.
Authorities said the bear was relocated to an area in the San Gabriel Mountains.
