Crossing Work For Gold Line Extension Completed
MONROVIA (CBSLA.com) — A week after marking completion of the 11½-mile track extension from Pasadena to Azusa for Metro's Foothill Gold Line, crews have announced they have finished work on 14 street-level rail crossings along the route.
Work wrapped up three months ahead of schedule, with construction completed earlier this week at Mountain Avenue, on the Monrovia-Duarte city boundary. Much of the work has been adjacent to the 210 Freeway between Sierra Madre Village and Duarte, so its completion should be a relief for commuters dealing with construction and road closures in the area.
The work is part of a $2 billion project to add 12 stations to the Gold Line, which currently runs from Pasadena to Union Station in Los Angeles before bending southeast into East LA.An additional $1 billion is being sought to extend the line further east to Montclair.
The segment from Pasadena to Azusa is expected to open for service in about a year.
