Married Mission Viejo Teacher Behind Bars After Being Accused Of Lewd Acts With 8th Grader

MISSION VIEJO (CBSLA.com) — A 34-year-old teacher was in custody Friday for allegedly dating a male juvenile student.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, Kristen Goodwin Roush of Aliso Viejo was arrested at her home for lewd and lascivious acts with a child.

Roush was employed as an eighth grade teacher at La Paz Intermediate School.

In July, investigators were contacted by the student's parents regarding what they perceived as an inappropriate relationship between their son and Roush.

Detectives conducted a several month long investigation.

According to deputies, witnesses were interviewed and evidence was obtained from both the victim and the teacher's cell phone.

Roush is being held on $50,000 at the Orange County Jail.

She is expected to appear in court on Monday.

KCAL9's Stacey Butler spoke to some of Roush's neighbors who declined to talk on camera. The women's neighbors said she was a lovely wife and mother (she has two young girls) and were shocked at the allegations or inappropriate conduct with a student.

A representative for the Saddleback Unified School District told Butler that as a result of the investigation, Roush was put on paid administrative leave at the beginning of the school year.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact police at (714) 647-7000.
