AZUSA (CBSLA.com) — A 48-year-old man was being held Friday on $1.2 million bail for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl,.

Victor Carnio Martinez faces seven felony counts of lewd acts on a child.

The alleged incident was reported to Azusa police Wednesday evening.

The girl said that she was with Martinez, who was known to her family, inside his vehicle Monday night when he drove to the back of a local shopping center.

"While in the vehicle, in a secluded area, Martinez sexually abused the child while she pleaded with him to stop," Detective Sergeant Bruce Badoni said.

During the incident, Martinez reportedly threatened to harm the child and her family if she screamed, yelled for help or told anyone about the abuse.
