Father, 44, Son, 12, Found Stabbed To Death Inside Hemet Home

HEMET (CBSLA.com) — Police Thursday were investigating the murder of a 12-year-old boy and his 44-year-old father at a Riverside County home.

Authorities received 911 calls from neighbors around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday about two people that appeared to be dead inside a residence in the 400 block of Winthrop Drive in Hemet, Lt. Dean Evans said.

A family member who found the bodies identified the victims as Deon Boyd and Deon Jr, CB2/KCAL9's Tom Wait reported.

Both of the victims were stabbed multiple times and were reported dead at the scene.

Officials said the attack was not random and that the victims knew the assailant.

Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, authorities pulled over a car in the 28500 block of Shady Tree Lane in Hemet -- about 14 miles away from the double homicide -- after an officer said the driver was acting suspiciously.

Police said the vehicle was reported stolen Thursday morning and was registered to the home where the murders occurred.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Quilik Lamont Walton, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Walton, who is Boyd's stepson and lived with the family at their home, has a history of mental issues, according to family members.

He is being held without bail and will be arraigned on Oct. 28.
