Police: Convicted Felon Arrested In Possession Of Firearms
OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A 19-year-old man was in custody Wednesday on suspicion of illegally possessing firearms.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, Uriel Barrera of Port Hueneme was charged around 5:00 a.m. with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
Officers said search warrants were served in Oxnard and Port Hueneme as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
As a result of the investigation, detectives seized firearms, ammunition and additional evidence.
A convicted felon, Barrera is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms, police explained.
According to officials, he is a documented member of a gang that was previously served with the civil gang injunction.
This arrest marks the fourth time Barrera has been arrested in possession of a firearm in the past four years.
