Family Of CSUN Student Found Dead Say They Are 'Devastated'

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com)   — The family of a missing CSUN student whose body was found Thursday more than 150 miles away from where Abdulluh Alkadi was last seen is speaking out Saturday.

Alkadi, a native of Saudi Arabia, went missing on September 18.

The 23-year-old was found dead in Palm Desert near an overpass of the 10 Freeway.

.LAPD Chief Charlie Beck announced Friday that they would have a news conference on Monday to announce the latest details about the investigation into Alkadi's disappearance and murder.

Police said their investigation was in "a critical phase" and very information has been released.

Alkadi's brother Ahmed -- also a Northridge student -- was too distraught to speak on camera Saturday. The dead man's family in Saudi Arabia is "devastated," a cousin said.

"He was like any other college kid," said cousin Mohammad Alomair, "Into cars, making new friends. We are very devastated here. We just hope justice will be served."
