Donovan To Be Honored At Galaxy Home Finale

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — Retiring Los Angeles Galaxy forward Landon Donovan will be honored Sunday afternoon as the MLS team plays its final 2014 regular season game at StubHub Center.

The record-setting Donovan, 32, announced earlier this season that he would be retiring. He is widely considered to be the greatest American male soccer player of all time.

The Galaxy recommend that fans arrive early for Sunday's game against the Seattle Sounders. Gates will open at 3:15 p.m. for season ticket holders and 15 minutes later for all fans. A ceremony honoring Donovan is slated for 5:20 p.m., just prior to the 5:30 p.m. kickoff.

Due to the number of fans expected to attend, and limited space on site, fans are encouraged to carpool. Additional parking will be available at SouthBay Pavilion on Del Amo Boulevard in Carson. The lot is located next to Sears and a free shuttle to the StubHub Center will be available from 3 to 9 p.m.

Fan appreciation activities are slated from 3:15 to 5 p.m. as part of "SoccerFest" on the South Plaza at StubHub Center.

The Galaxy will close the regular season next Saturday in Seattle, and are slated to host a playoff game on Sunday, Nov. 9.
