1 Killed In North Hollywood Hit-And-Run Accident
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 48-year-old female pedestrian died Saturday after being hit by a vehicle in North Hollywood.
According to the North Hollywood Police Department, officers were sent just after 2:00 a.m. to the 7300 block of Lankershim Boulevard for report of a hit-and-run accident.
Upon arrival, officers pronounced a Hispanic transient dead at the scene.
Police said the suspect was traveling Northbound in a white Mercedes sedan, when the victim crossed the roadway while pushing a shopping cart.
After hitting the victim, the suspect kept driving without stopping.
Officers said the suspect's vehicle will have front end damage.
The deceased was identified as Ofelia Hernandez Salazar.
Authorities said she wasn't in the crosswalk when she was struck.
