Apple Valley Police Seek Public's Help In Locating Attempted Murder Suspect

APPLE VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities in San Bernardino County are searching for a 53-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting at a business Monday evening.

The suspect, identified by Apple Valley police as 53-year-old Jose Leon Pinela III, is accused of forcefully entering a locked business in the 21500 block of Bear Valley Road, and firing four to five rounds.

At the time of the shooting, about 7:58 p.m., authorities say Pinela used the butt of his gun to break out the glass door and gain entry into the business.

A male was struck once in the shoulder, while a woman and another male were unharmed. The male victim was flown to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. His current condition was unknown.

Authorities say Pinela fled the scene in a 2012 silver Honda Civic with California license 6XXD883. He allegedly dumped the shotgun underneath a car in the parking lot of the business.

Authorities say Pinela had been dating the woman at the business, but had found out that she was seeing someone new.

Anyone with more information about this case was urged to contact the Apple Valley Detective Bureau at (760) 240-7400, ext. 7418.
