Stephen Collins' Estranged Wife Rejects Extortion Allegations

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Faye Grant, the estranged wife of actor Stephen Collins, is disputing reported allegations that she extorted her husband with a recently released audiotape.

According to Yahoo Celebrity, Collins' attorney had accused Grant of extorting his client.

In response, Grant released a statement that read:

"This is a deeply sad situation for everyone involved. With regard to the divorce proceedings, I am seeking no more than that to which I am legally entitled under the laws of the state of California. The recording of Mr. Collins' statements has not been part of family court proceedings or any negotiations related to that action at any time."

Legal documents show Collins made $1 to $3 million a year throughout the marriage, which lasted 27 years. The couple has a reported $14 million fortune.

Collins' found himself embroiled in controversy this week after celebrity website TMZ.com posted a recording on which the actor apparently confesses to molesting three girls.

Meanwhile, their divorce trial is set to begin in November.
