Oxnard Man Remains Hospitalized Following Serious Traffic Collision

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old male remains hospitalized in serious condition Thursday after sustaining injuries in a traffic collision.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers were sent around 5 p.m. to the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Monaco Drive for reports of an injury traffic collision involving a motorcyclist.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a blue 2011 GMC Terrain vehicle, driven by 84-year-old Lucille Nancy Edgar, was traveling Southbound on Victoria Avenue.

Edgar pulled into the left turn pocket at Monaco Drive in preparation to turn into a private shopping center, officers said.

Police said a red 2009 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle, driven by Nash Dingman, was traveling Northbound on Victoria Avenue from Channel Islands Boulevard towards Monaco Drive.

According to authorities, for an unknown reason, Edgar turned directly into the path of Dingman, causing him to be ejected from his motorcycle as it collided with the front end of the vehicle.

Dingman was reportedly wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash, however, he was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for significant internal injuries, a broken left leg and broken left arm sustained in the collision.

Edgar was transported to Saint John's Regional Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries.

Officers said both vehicles sustained major damage as a result of the crash.

Officers said the investigation is ongoing as it is unknown at this time whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact police at (805) 385-7749.
