Man Arrested In Connection With Kidnapping Of UCR Student

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a University of California, Riverside student.

Donald Earl Rosenbek, Jr. was arrested on Tuesday at a home in Cathedral City in connection with the kidnapping of an unidentified female student, Riverside police said in a written statement.

The incident unfolded about 4:17 p.m. on June 8, when Riverside police say the woman was grabbed from the University Towers parking garage at 3500 Iowa Avenue and was forcibly placed inside the suspect's car.

Police say the woman was then bound and driven around. She was also physically but not sexually assaulted, according to police.

The woman remained calm and managed to convince the suspect to release her at the same parking garage, authorities said.

It was at that point when the woman contacted authorities, who arrived on scene and gathered forensic evidence.

That evidence, along with a photographic line-up, subsequently linked Rosenbek to the crime, according to police.

Rosenbek has since been charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, and assault of a person by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury.

He is currently being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center and is expected to be arraigned on Oct. 9.

Anyone with more information about this case was asked to call Detective Rick Wheeler at (951) 353-7134.
