Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Oct. 6)

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — There's finally a break from the heat. While it will still be well above average Monday, it will be much cooler than the weekend. Highs will be below the century mark for the inland communities.

There is a trough moving into the area by the middle of the week and that will increase the marine layer a bit.

The remnants of tropical storm Simon will move to the south of the area and bringing in a few high clouds as a result, but the moisture will move into Arizona. Expect some high surf as the result of this tropical system. Heavy surf advisories are in place through Tuesday night.

For the rest of the week, look for temperatures to drop into the low 80s in the basin and low 90s for valleys. However, next weekend will be warm once again.

It appears another ridge of high pressure will move into the area by Saturday and Sunday next week. That means hot and dry temperatures and some high fire danger once again.
