2 Boats Possibly Collide Off Playa del Rey

PLAYA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — One of two boats possibly involved in a collision near Dockweiler State Beach had overturned before the collision, it was reported Monday.

The incident, which unfolded about 8 p.m., prompted a search of the waters off Playa del Rey for victims or survivors.

Aerial footage showed a lifeguard jumping into the water and joining other divers, although it remained unclear whether anyone was on board either of the vessels.

Sky9's Stu Mundel reported that officials planned to tow the overturned vessel into Marina del Rey.

The circumstances leading to the collision remained unclear.
