2 Men In Their 20s Injured After Their Bike Is Struck In L.A.

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say two people riding on the same bicycle were injured after being struck by a vehicle in Los Angeles.

LAPD Sgt. Hendley Hawkins said the accident at the intersection of West Slauson Avenue and South Hoover Street happened about 1:20 a.m. Saturday, according to City News Service.

Police said the bike was traveling eastbound on Slauson and planned to turn northbound on Hoover when the vehicle ran a red light, and struck the bicycle.

The victims, described as two males, were ejected and injured.

One of the victims, age 24, sustained a broken leg and an injury to the head while the second victim, age 22, sustained a broken arm and internal injuries.

Both were transported to an area hospital where they were placed in an intensive care unit. They are expected to recover, authorities said.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, described as a black Camero, remained at the scene. No arrests have been made.
