Pastor Among 3 Shot Outside Long Beach Home

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A pastor of a Lakewood church was among three people who were shot early Wednesday morning in a Long Beach neighborhood.

The shooting happened just after midnight outside of a home in the area of 59th Street and Deforrest Avenue, police said.

The daughter of one of the victim's said her father was dropping the pastor and his wife off at the home after playing Bingo when they were all shot.

Neighbors reported hearing at least seven shots and saw a black SUV and white compact car flee the scene.

"I think he [the pastor] got hit in the foot. And my dad and the pastor's wife got hit somewhere in the leg," the victim's daughter said.

All three victims were transported to a local hospital and were they listed in stable condition.

The pastor was house-sitting the home for a fellow pastor at Vai Ole Ola Congregational Church, according to the male victim's daughter.

A suspect description was not released and the incident was being investigated as possibly gang-related.
