Deputies Raid Suspected 'Honey Oil' Lab In San Jacinto

SAN JACINTO (CBSLA.com) — Two people were arrested Saturday after authorities raided a home they said was the location of an illegal concentrated-cannabis or "honey oil" lab.

According to a news release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, which is contracted with the city of San Jacinto to provide police services, deputies with the Special Enforcement Team got a search warrant for the home following a Friday night traffic stop. Early Saturday morning they went to the home in the 900 block of Evans Street, where they discovered the operation that was cultivating, processing and packaging marijuana and concentrated cannabis.

Deputies seized 30 pounds of processed marijuana and 16 ounces of honey oil, an easily vaporized substance made through a potentially explosive process that involves the use of butane gas. They also removed 12 mature marijuana plants from the home, along with a loaded firearm. They also determined that a 4-year-old child lives in the residence.

Jessica Desmond, 22, and Leroy Langford, 21, both of San Jacinto, were arrested and booked on charges of cultivation and possession of marijuana for sale, operating a concentrated cannabis extraction lab, possession of concentrated cannabis, and felony child endangerment. Langford was also charged with a probation violation.

Desmond was driving the pickup truck that deputies stopped just after 10 p.m. Friday for a vehicle code violation, and Langford was her passenger, the news release states. While searching the vehicle, deputies found a half-pound of marijuna and $3,000 in cash, setting in motion a follow-up investigation.

San Jacinto police continue their investigation, and ask that anyone with information contact Officer James King at the San Jacinto Station at 951-654-2702.
