City Denies Permit For Sold-Out Slip-And-Slide Event Downtown
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The City Friday denied a permit for a massive 1,000-foot-long traveling water slide event in downtown Los Angeles, citing drought concerns.
The Los Angeles City Department of Public Affairs confirmed to CBSLA that the permit was denied due to the seriousness of the current drought.
The proposed "Slide The City" attraction was expected to be held on Sept. 28, along Olive Street between Third and Sixth streets.
Organized by San Diego-based McFarlane Promotions, the slides were expected to span the length of about three football fields.
Ticket prices for the now sold-out event started at $20 per person, and names were being accepted on a wait list online.
