2 Women Accused Of Stealing From OC Homes While Posing As Housekeepers

ALISO VIEJO (CBSLA.com) — Two woman faced burglary charges Thursday after they were arrested for allegedly posing as housekeepers in order to steal from several south Orange County homes.

Sandra Rojas, 36, and 38-year-old Marie Rojas, both of Riverside, are accused of stealing cash and jewelry from residences.

Over the past year, the Orange County Sheriff's Department had been investigating several burglary cases that involved suspects "posing as housekeepers as a means of committing the burglaries without forcing entry into the residences.  In the event the suspects were contacted by homeowners, they would pose as a legitimate cleaning crew."

Following the arrest of the Rojas women, who are related by marriage, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Riverside.

"Additional evidence and information was obtained that connected them to several residential burglaries in the south Orange County area," Lt. Jeff Hallock said.

Authorities were working with other law enforcement agencies to determine if the women are connected to other burglaries.

Anyone with additional information should call the OCSD at (949) 425-1940.  Anonymous tips may also be submitted to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS (855-847-6227) or at occrimestoppers.org.
