LAUSD Meets To Discuss Problematic MISIS Computer Tracking System
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The LAUSD board met Tuesday over the district's heavily-criticized computer tracking system, with the teacher's union starting to speak out.
LAUSD is using the program, called My Integrated Student Information System (MISIS), to keep track of its students, including their grades and attendance.
Teachers argue that, even after original issues were addressed, MISIS is still creating heavy issues in the classroom.
"Class rosters are wrong, students have had to pick up their class schedules from different schools," UTLA's Colleen Schwab described. "One high school would not have that student's records, the kids would have to go to a different high school. Teachers are trying to input grades, and assignment grades, and it disappears."
While testing for the program reportedly went well prior to the beginning of the school year, the district failed to anticipate the issues that would surface when everyone was online at the same time.
LAUSD says the system is flawed and still requires attention.
