Riverside Co. Remains Under Flash Flood Watch
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Riverside County will remain under a flash flood watch through Monday evening following severe storms that submerged cars and filled basements over the weekend.
The main threat for flooding will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. near mountain slopes and foothills, and across the deserts.
Forecasters said more than three inches of rain could fall in some areas and flooding would be likely near slow-moving thunderstorms.
On Sunday, approximately 2-to-3 inches of rain fell in an hour and flooded the intersection of 14th and Vine, forcing drivers to ditch their cars.
A total of five cars were submerged.
The intersection was reopened at 8 a.m. Monday after crews worked through the night to drain the water.
More than 6,000 SoCal Edison customers in San Bernardino and Riverside counties were without power due to the storm.
