Castaic Police Arrest Daughter In Fatal Stabbing Of 87-Year-Old Father

CASTAIC (CBSLA.com) — Authorities announced the arrest of a 87-year-old man's daughter for his fatal stabbing Friday morning in his Casatic home.

Deputies sent to the home in the 31900 block of Emerald Lane about 10 a.m. Friday found the man unconscious, and suffering from stab wounds to his upper torso, according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as James Gillis by the Coroner's Office.

Homicide detectives on Sunday announced the arrest of Denise Gillis, 48, the victim's daughter.

Gillis was booked and taken to Century Regional Detention Facility and authorities said she is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
