Malibu Pier Pilings Wash Ashore Amid High Surf

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — Several Malibu pier pilings washed ashore amid strong swells on Friday.

The pieces of the pier, 13 in total, were found near Malibu Road and Webb Way, according to the Los Angeles District superintendent for California State Parks.

The last of the bunch washed ashore around 2 p.m., reported Sky9's Stu Mundel.

The wood pilings, which broke off and fell into the ocean after recent swells, were subsequently removed from the sand.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Norbert is expected to bring in a swell from New Zealand this weekend with waves topping 7 to 8 feet locally.
