Tustin Man Suspected In Attempted Kidnapping

TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Police say a Tustin man has been arrested on suspicion of trying to kidnap a woman at gunpoint.

David Mussehl, 43, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of attempted kidnapping, exhibiting a firearm and assault with a deadly weapon, according to Tustin police Lt. Robert Wright.

The kidnapping attempt happened about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of Champion Way, according to police. The woman was preparing to go for a jog when she was approached by the man, who pointed a handgun at her and ordered her into his vehicle, police said.

The woman refused and told him she was going to call 911. The man fled the scene in a black Lexus, police said.

Tustin police detectives developed information regarding the man's identity, Wright said, and arrested him at his home. Mussehl was taken into custody, along with a black Lexus and a handgun matching the description from the attempted kidnapping, police said.

Anyone with more information about the crime can call Tustin police detective Pam Hardacre at (714) 573-3248.
