Phony Bomb Threat Forces Brief Evacuation Of Elementary School In Costa Mesa

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — Hours after a phony threat led to classes being canceled at Fountain Valley High School Wednesday, another false bomb claim was made at a Costa Mesa elementary school.

A bomb threat was called in to California Elementary School, 3232 California St., at about 11:10 a.m. and the school was evacuated within minutes, Costa Mesa police Lt. Dwight Manley said.

By 11:45 a.m., the campus had been searched and students returned to class when investigators determined the threat was a hoax, Manley said.

An emailed threat of bombing and mass shooting prompted officials to cancel classes at Fountain Valley High School. Investigators did not find evidence that the threat was credible and classes will resume Thursday.
