2 Motorcyclists Shot On 60 Freeway In Boyle Heights

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Saturday said two motorcyclists were shot on the 60 Freeway in Boyle Heights.

The first motorcyclist was shot near Lorena Street, LAPD Lt. Carlos Solano told KNX 1070's Ed Mertz.

"The individual who is in stable condition at USC-MC basically stated that he was riding his motorcycle on the freeway at a high rate of speed trying to get away from someone or some people who were shooting at him," the lieutenant said.

He added, "He sustained six gunshot wounds to his back."

The second motorcyclist was listed in critical condition at an area hospital after being shot at least four times, reported Mertz.

The suspected shooter(s) remain at large.

In recent weeks, there have been three separate and unrelated shootings on the 60 Freeway.

Anyone with information on Saturday's cases was asked to call the LAPD's Hollenbeck Station or the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, East Los Angeles station.

No further information was available.
